Yes! It's a powerful scene. You realize it was intentional, right? It alludes back to the scene with the deer, a deeply personal, meaningful experience that he considered telling his friends about, "but I didn't; that was the one thing I kept to myself." At the end, with the computer scene, we see that the entire story was just like that. He writes it up, but decides it was too personally meaningful, something that has to have been experienced, not something he could actually share by writing.
