Sinister Saloon: Night of the Krampus Offers A Lively Alternative To Your Typical Night on the Town
Just because we’re heading into the holiday season doesn’t mean it can’t still be spooky. After all, Christmas used to be a time for telling ghost stories. The Witches Brew is here to bring the creepy back to Christmas with Sinister Saloon: Night of the Krampus (A Haunted Holiday Spookeasy), from Midnight Souls. On November 19, we got to check out the media night at Sassafras Saloon Hollywood.
Sassafras has a fun, western vibe to begin with, and the holiday decorations really set it over the top. There are evil gingerbread men throughout the saloon, skeleton horses, and even a skeleton bartender. Krampus is right by the front entrance to greet you, along with a tree setup and skeleton horse. Many pictures were taken at this spot throughout the evening.
The decorations do not stop at that front room, and it’s fun to grab a drink and then wander around checking out the scenery. There are a host of fun cocktails named after Edgar Allan Poe poems and short stories, as well as beer and wine. That’s not all though, because there are “wandering spirits” dressed to the nines and ready to share tales of unsettling encounters in this haunted Hollywood locale.
Throughout the 2.5-hour journey, immensely talented artists entertain and enrapture during the Madam’s haunting cabaret show. You won’t want to leave until you’ve seen all of the performances, each one its own unique style. You’ll also want to be there for the arrival of Krampus, the Yuletide Demon.
Check it out for yourself, with shows Dec 1-3 and 8-10. Fridays have one show at 8pm, while Saturdays offer two timing options: 6-8pm and 9-11:30pm, and Sundays have shows at 4-6pm and 7-9:30pm.
