Kevin Bacon And Family Celebrate End Of Christmas In Cheeky 'Boxing Day' Song
Kevin Bacon and his family were not sad to see the Christmas holiday conclude.
In fact, they were so happy it was over, that they sang a song about it. In a video shared to Instagram on Thursday, December 26, the Footloose star, 66, could be seen singing his family’s rewrite of the 1971 classic “Happy Xmas (War Is Over).”
His wife of 36 years, Kyra Sedgwick, and their children Sosie, 32, and Travis, 35, also joined in on the fun, each taking a few lyrics. The video begins with a close-up of a Santa decoration, before moving to Kevin on the guitar.
“Christmas is over. Not a moment too soon. Now we don't have to listen. To any more Christmas tunes,” the Maxxxine star sings. Then Sosie pops into frame in a pair of black sunglasses, singing, “Frosty has melted. There’s no jingle bells. Because Rudolph is in rehab. There’s no Christmas smells.”
Travis, who is also playing guitar, continues, singing, “We call can stop listening. To little drummer boys. We all can stop glistening. Let’s undeck the halls.” As he sings, Sosie can be seen dancing in the background along with a little blond boy.
“Yes, Christmas is over. It’s no longer white. They’ll restart the torture,” Sedgwick, 59, who also sported black sunglasses, sang with attitude, before the rest of her family joined her in the final lyric of the song. “On Thanksgiving night,” they all sang in unison.
The not-so-festive video, which was shared in a joint post by Kevin, Sosie, Travis, and Sedgwick, was simply captioned, “HAPPY BOXING DAY!”
The joking video is not super surprising coming from a family that's ready to slay together in an upcoming horror movie called Family Movie. The Hollywood couple are set to direct and star in the film, along with Sosie and Travis, per Variety.
The horror-comedy film is based on a screenplay by Dan Beers, who wrote the R-rated short film Premature. Family Movie follows a tight-knit family of filmmakers who find themselves in a real-life horror movie when a body turns up on the set of their latest low-budget slasher, per the film's description. As their movie production spirals out of control, the family realizes they must try to cover up the murder, by any means necessary.
