Kevin Bacon And Kyra Sedgwick To Direct Family Horror Film
The family that slays together, stays together.
Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are making horror a family business.
The Hollywood couple — who have been married since 1988 — are set to direct and star in a horror movie called Family Movie, which will also feature their actual children, Sosie and Travis Bacon, per Variety. The horror-comedy film is based on a screenplay by Dan Beers, who wrote the R-rated short film Premature.

Family Movie follows a tight-knit family of filmmakers who find themselves in a real-life horror movie when a body turns up on the set of their latest low-budget slasher, per the film's description. As their movie production spirals out of control, the family realizes they must try to cover up the murder, by any means necessary.
The Bacon-Sedgwick family will produce the horror-comedy with Mixed Breed Films and Dark Castle Entertainment CEO, Norman Golightly, who couldn't help but to gush about them. "There may not be a more compelling Hollywood family than the Bacons. We can't wait to bring their unique dynamic to the screen, and then wildly turn it on its head for audiences," Golightly said.
This will not be the first directing project for Kevin nor Sedgwick. The Closer star has previously directed feature films Space Oddity (2022) and Story of a Girl (2017). Her short film Girls Weekend (2019) premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. She recently gushed to Variety about how much she loves directing.
"This feels so much better than acting. I'm much less vulnerable. And I feel like I know what I'm doing more. I have so much confidence. As an actor, I am filled with self-doubt," she told the publication.
The Footloose star directed 2005's Loverboy (starring his wife) and 1996 film Losing Chase, in addition to TV episodes of The Closer and City on a Hill. As far as his history with horror, Kevin has become somewhat of a "Scream King," having appeared in films like the horror classic Friday the 13th, They/Them, You Should Have Left, Stir of Echoes, Tremors, Hollow Man, and most recently, Maxxxine (in which he is fantastic, TBH).

His daughter, Sosie, 32, caught the attention of horror fans with her starring turn in 2022's Smile. She also appeared on four episodes of Scream: The TV Series (which is wildly underrated), and in crime/thriller miniseries Mare of Easttown. She recently made her directorial debut with 2024's What We Got Wrong.
Travis, 35, is a writer, producer, and film composer who just worked on the 2024 short Keep Coming Back, which debuted at ScreamFest. He also composed for Weekend Deadaway, What We Got Wrong, Space Oddity, Girls Weekend, and Story of a Girl.
