Fans Want Kim Kardashian To Help Suspected UHC Shooter
Fans have found a new legal project for Kim Kardashian.
Following the arrest of Luigi Mangione as a suspect in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, the reality star's supporters took to social media to ask Kim Kardashian to help the suspected UHC shooter. Though Mangione, 26, is already being represented by attorney Thomas Dickey, many fans think The Kardashians star, 44, can help with his case.
Kardashian has become a prominent advocate for prison reform, pushing for the release of nonviolent offenders who have been unfairly sentenced. She also met with Gypsy Rose Blanchard in prison, as well as Lyle and Erik Menendez, for whom she called for an early release from their life sentences.
After Mangione was revealed as the suspect in custody for the UHC shooting, fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to lobby for Kardashian's involvement. Some tagged the star in their posts, while others made jokes about the suspect's looks, saying he could model for Kardashian's brand.
"@KimKardashian Free Luigi Mangione for us. Get us that pardon," one X user posted.
Another simply wrote, "kim kardashian should represent luigi mangione."
A third jokingly claimed the SKIMS co-founder was ahead of all these suggestions, commenting, "Chile I know Kim kardashian already on her way to see Luigi."
Another fan posted, "he's lowkey the modern day prison bae kim kardashian is looking at ways to set him free as we speak!! the inevitable skims campaign will break the internet...".
Another X user suggested it was only a matter of time before the TV personality got involved.
"I give @KimKardashian 48 hours before she reaches out to Luigi for both a modeling contract and prison sentence reform," they posted.
Mangione was arrested on Monday, December 9 at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania. At the time, he was allegedly in possession of a gun, bullets, multiple fake IDs, and cash. He is suspected in the killing of Thompson on December 4 in Manhattan, New York City.
Mangione is facing possible charges of forgery, carrying a firearm without a license, tampering with records or identifications, possession of instruments of crime, and providing false identification to law enforcement, per court documents filed in Blair County, Pennsylvania on December 9.
That same day he was also charged in Manhattan — though he remained jailed in Pennsylvania amid plans to be extradited to New York — with second-degree murder, three counts of illegal weapons possession, and forgery. He was denied bail.
The social media outreach comes after Kardashian spoke publicly about the Menendez brothers, who were convicted of the first-degree murder of their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez, in 1996, and sentenced to life in prison.
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians alum visited them in prison, and also called for their release in an essay to NBC News, published on October 3, 2024. She also met with Blanchard in prison to discuss reform, and helped Alice Marie Johnson to get pardoned by then-President Donald Trump in 2018.
